張醫師指，一旦有「朱古力瘤」，醫生會依照病人年紀、疾病嚴重度或有沒有生育計畫的情況來選擇適當的治療方式。基本上可以分為藥物治療以及手術治療兩大方向。治療朱古力瘤的主要目的在於改善疼痛症狀及不孕的問題。一般如朱古力瘤直徑小於三厘米，可透過中藥調理或服用西醫荷爾蒙藥改善症狀。如朱古力瘤直徑超過五厘米，通常都會建議手術切除。
中醫角度認為，朱古力瘤的形成與瘀血有關。當患者體內出現氣滯、體寒、腎虛、氣虛等問題，血行不暢，瘀血凝滯，朱古力瘤就會形成。因此，活血化瘀是中醫治療子宮內膜異位的基本原則。除了用活血化瘀方藥，中醫臨床常用的治療方法還有針灸。
